Today in Human Geo, we took our last test for the class. It’s the last one because on Tuesday we start the second semester and this is only a one semester class. Before the test Mr. Schick let us study for 10 minutes and ask questions. I didn’t really have any questions, but other kids did. The test went pretty well, and I was unsure about a couple of the questions. When I was done, I checked the answers I was unsure of and fought out that I got 2 wrong so far. I Hope that is the only one I got wrong, but there could be more. I’m waiting here and typing this while Mr. Schick hands out cookies. He was still being funny when handing out cookies because he wouldn’t give John one until a little after everyone else did. I had a fun class this year with Mr. Schick and everyone in it.

One more day until the test
Today in Human Geography, we had Karson teach us what we learned yesterday. I think learning the same material after the same day is actually better because then you get the material better. Karson did a very well job of explaining everything having to do with North Korea. She taught everything again, and then four other classmates brought up that the U.S should NUC North Korea. Mr. Schick thought this was a terrible idea because of many reasons. A kid named Cody also said we should NUC China as well. He said this because China is an ally of North Korea. We have two Chinese kids in our class. One of them tried to explain the relationship between China and North Korea, but Cody kept interrupting. While Mr. Schick was also arguing with Cody, he made a very good point of why we shouldn’t NUC North Korea, and kind of shut Cody up. Mr. Schick said if we NUC North Korea, it would be horrible in the first place, and then it would just give the U.S a terrible reputation to the rest of the world. After this, Cody agreed with Mr. Schick that we shouldn’t and Mr. Schick was happy.

North Korea leader facts
Today in Human Geography was quite interesting. We talked about the leaders that have been in power. The leaders that have been in power are Kim II-sung, Kim Jong-un, and Kim Jong- il. Kim II-sung ruled from 1948-1994. He also died in 1994. He was considered a Great Leader, Eternal Leader, Supreme Leader, Eternal President of the Republic to the North Koreans. He was viewed as a God by his people, establishment of “cult of personality”, the people are required to show extreme devotion to him. During early part of his rule, the state destroyed over 2000 Buddhist temples and Christian churches. After he died, his son Kim Jong- il took power. He ruled from 1994- 2011. He also died in 2011. There are many crazy mythical facts we went over that the North Koreans think about Kim Jong- il. One of the craziest ones is that the people thought he could control the weather based on his mood. After he died, his son Kim Jong-un took power. Many people around the world thought this guy was going to change North Korea because of many reasons that the other leaders did not do. After many people thought he was going to change, he threatened the U.S by saying he was going to send a nuclear bomb to Washington D.C and Los Angeles. There are many other things why he’s not a good leader, and I would never want to live in North Korea.

We finished it
Today In Human Geo, we watched more of the North Korea documentary. I was actually excited to go to class today because I knew that we were watching this. The video resumed when the people went to a North Korean home. It was pretty weird because of how different their house was to ours. Mr. Schick told us the word Juche is very important, and we need to know it for the test on Friday. It means to have isolation to the rest of the world, or self reliance. There was a very cool scene in the documentary when a guard escaped from North Korea, and got into South Korea. He had a technique of disabling the electric fence for only two minutes for him and his friend to get under. He got over, but while his friend was trying to get over, it turned back on and he died. It was a very good documentary and hope we can learn more.

Documentary
Today in Human Geo, we watched the beginning of a documentary. It was actually very cool. I’m really excited to see the rest of it Tuesday. Usually I hate things teachers make us watch, but this is very interesting and cool to watch. I thought it was funny how the North Korean guards stare at each other all day because they don’t want anyone leaving their country. I also thought it was crazy that one of the South Korean guys had to be held by another South Korean guy when he opened a door because the North Korean people might of grabbed in and made him stay in North Korea. The whole documentary is about a doctor from Nepal who goes around the world to fix cataracts in peoples eyes. The bad part is, the people filming want to also get a glimpse of the life in North Korea. They have to be very cautious that no one see’s because they are only supposed to be filming the doctor. If they get caught they might be thrown in jail, and never get out. I also thought it was very interesting that In the 90's, the average 7 year kid was 8 inches shorter and 22 pounds lighter than kids in South Korea. North Korea is a sick place

2 hour delay again
Today In Human Geo, it was a little different than usual. We had Cody teach everything from yesterday. It was really funny because Cody was making it like that. We went on a little further in the powerpoint. I think we should do this because it actually helped me learn more. Mr. Schick was even laughing. He told and explained more facts about North Korea, and Kim Jong Un. We also, talked about the leaders before Un. He also said statements about the movie, The Interview. Mr. Schick also had his daughter come into class today. His daughter was actually in my sisters class I’m pretty sure. I hope in the next couple classes we can have other students come and teach because it was pretty funny. We talked about other things with North Korea. This is definitely the most interesting thing we have talked about this year in my opinion, and hope we can talk about it more.

It's been awhile
Today in Human Geo, we talked about North Korea. I think this will be the most interesting topic because how different they are to the rest of all the countries. They have an oppressive government, they are very secluded and isolated from the world, they are currently headed by Kim Jong-Un, Kim Jong-Un didn’t seem to like The Interview. North Korea is a state-run socialist government that many consider to be a Stalinist dictatorship. Their official name is Democratic People’s Republic of Korea or DPRK. The capital of North Korea is Pyongyang. They are located at 39 degrees north latitude. A fun fact is that our school is also 39 degrees north latitude. When looking at a satellite image of North Korea at night, there are no lights shown at all. I’m actually excited to learn these facts for the rest of the quarter, and hope we can do more fun things like we did in today’s class
